An Introduction to McKenzie Robotics

McKenzie Robotics, a rookie team in 2003, is a high school robotics team that competes in FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) competitions. Based out of the McKenzie Career Center of Lawrence Township in Indianapolis, Indiana, the team is a life-changing program that prepares the generations of today to live in a world of tomorrow.

The McKenzie Robotics Team 1024, nicknamed the Kil-a-Bytes, uses the FIRST competition to teach its members technical knowledge, project management, as well as strengthening lifeskills like determination, planning, and time management. Furthermore, going along with the vision of FIRST, the McKenzie Robotics Team spurs interest in students in the fields of science and technology.

A Rich History

Now entering its 5th year as a FIRST team, the McKenzie Robotics Team is a proud perennial award-winning team. The team draws students from both Lawrence Township high schools as well as the local Cathedral High School, and is proud to have engineers from local companies. The McKenzie Kil-a-Bytes pride themselves with numerous robotic innovations every year, ranging from roll-cages to our own fabricated gearboxes. The team won the 2004 St. Louis Regional and has placed well in several other regionals, often seeded in the top 8 headed into the finals. Learn More...

McKenzie Career Center

Located in Lawrence Township on the Northeastside of Indianapolis, Indiana, McKenzie Career Center offers a wide range of career programs and academic classes from A+ certification to welding to the pre-engineering program, Project Lead the Way. The career center embraces rigorous academic programs and diverse technological career choices, which prepare its career-bound students for post-secondary education, military service, workplace entry, or advanced technical training.
