Being on the robotics team has taught me a few things. If nothing else I learned that you can’t do everything by yourself. Even if you work on a project by yourself for years, you can’t do everything by yourself and expect to get results of the same quality as you would get by working with other people. Having a team is what enables you to get the job done quickly and effectively.

I have also learned that everybody has their strengths. If you aren’t good at doing one job, that doesn’t mean that you can’t be successful in another area. You just need to find what it is that you’re good at, or even just something that you enjoy, and work to become the best you can be at doing that. If everyone is able to put their strengths together, then you’re able to accomplish some truly incredible feats. Conversely, even when everyone is working together, if nobody is doing something they know how to do, you won’t be as successful as you could be otherwise.

While working as a member of the team, I have been able to experience first-hand what it’s like to be in a career in manufacturing. I may not work on the design of the robot myself, but I am working on the programming that will allow the robot to work properly when it is done being built. Everyone has their own part to play on the team, and without each other, we would never find success.
