Team History

McKenzie Center for Innovation and Technology began its rookie year in 2003. The 1024th team to join FIRST®, the team number kind of named the team itself! The Kil-A-Bytes are located in Lawrence Township, Indianapolis, Indiana. FIRST® Team 1024 has grown from ten to twelve students to around fifty, seen at any event sporting the colors of blue and neon yellow. Our robot, year after year, shows the same coloring. We are known for our imagery, use of tube bending and powder coating. One of the most successful years was 2008 as the Kil-A-Bytes won every regional attended and went on to win on the Einstein field.

Team 1024 has impacted the lives of many students from Lawrence Township and neighboring high schools. Many students pursue a degree in engineering or science. Also, many 1024 alumni come back to mentor our team and many others after a successful college career.
